#Metoo - me too

Out of turn, today I share a personal incident that has made me very thoughtful and sad.

This more than confirms a large part of my hypotheses regarding the status quo of our working world in terms of a possible balancing of masculinity with femininity, and exceeds my suspicions.



In summary, I did not receive a new project, of course with a flimsy justification on circumstances that were known from the beginning, because I refused to engage in an affair with the CEO during my employment. I virtually dared to politely decline the highly touted part-time project job and laugh it away.


At first, I thought it was just a tasteless joke, but after a litany of impertinent and derogatory interviews (including whether I could back up all my highly qualified training with appropriate certificates, etc.) for the project by an average septuagenarian, I was proven wrong. The rejection came not 24 hours later.


I needed a few days to collect myself, to reflect, to check what really happened. But actually it is quite simple - nothing has changed.


Women are degraded to objects, who are allowed to serve and assist the big, wise men, whose boundaries are disregarded, exceeded and ignored. It is frightening! On the contrary, I was still overwhelmed with victory stories from the past - how wonderfully the male nepotism has worked for decades, how the jobs in the upper floors were played to each other and deals and of course a lot of money were made together.


As long as these men with this influence and enormous self-overestimation are still in positions where they can and are allowed to decide who they want to surround themselves with, even a women's quota won't help us. As we have seen in the private sector, the average length of time that women stay at board level is shockingly low. After this recent experience, we should not be surprised about the possible reasons.


Definitely, I will continue to focus on my own demarcation skills to certainly make recurring situations more confident. In the end, however, it will certainly remain with a rejection and thus always boil down to rejections.


So much for career opportunities in the 21st century.
