What's going on on the boards?

For some time now, it has been noticeable that headlines have been piling up telling us that women are withdrawing from boards. In some cases, this is due to direct resignations or a desire not to have their contracts extended any further.


After the painstaking introduction of the "women's quota", this development is somewhat surprising. Why has the arming of the boards with female members come to an abrupt end?



Women on the board

idea could be that the male world in business is not yet ready to change its ways. After all, most scandals tend to involve men, which is not surprising given the majority. But it is not just the other gender that is suddenly represented on the board; rather, it does something to the working atmosphere, the different expectations, communication and behavior, the analysis and voting behavior, and the setting of goals.


So change in top management cannot be brought about artificially, but must be wanted comprehensively and honestly from within, new perspectives must be accepted, and the desire must exist to really allow change.


 

Personally, I can absolutely understand this movement. The stubbornness and ignorance of some "heads of government" is hard to bear in the long run, especially when you are caught between two worlds and end up feeling responsible for undesirable developments.

 

As long as this is not the case, almost every woman will not feel comfortable in a more or less purely male group, will not be able to develop her qualities and competencies, and will rather be forced to behave in a purely masculine manner like her colleagues. This would make a complete mockery of the women's quota.


Is there a way out?

The imperative female power, the different view of things, the counterweight to the purely masculine view, must find its way into our world in a different way.

What is standing in the way? Is it really only the patriarchal power thinking? The defending of principalities? The inability to deal with energies other than our own?

How do we get from A to B? From the sinking ship to the slowly emerging new ship that will lead us into the future?


It is important to know that it will not happen overnight. It will take time, certainly some failed attempts, optimization potential and lots of patience. Probably also courage, creativity and stamina. There will also not be a final solution, but certainly structures adapted individually to the requirements and it will be about personalities and no longer about gender.


The big change

The composition of teams, unlike today, will be done with different methods, will go deeper and will no longer be based on the resume.

Who can harmonize well together? Who is creative together? Who promotes and challenges each other?


In the future, it will become increasingly important to create a balance between male and female qualities in teams, not according to heads and gender, but according to personal qualities and competencies. The idea of harmonious teams whose members inspire each other and deliver top performance in a light and fluid way while still having fun is becoming increasingly palpable.


Conclusion and outlook

This vision is quite conceivable, has already been introduced in some companies and is actually being lived there. A turnaround away from the well-known lip service, which in the meantime already leaves a stale aftertaste when reading, towards authentic statements from within the teams, filled with life.


To this soft form, the opening and caring for the teams, the company, the common success, feminine influences are indispensable. The hierarchical level is completely irrelevant here, although the top-down approach certainly seems promising.
